The tool contains two databases that simplifies the calculations. One is a material unit weight database, the other contains a set of Gauge Standards Worldwide. Metals & Materials, like the application it derives from, Cross Sections Calculator, accepts inputting any dimension / weight in units independent of each other. For example, width can be entered in Feet, while height in inches or millimeters and length in yards or meters. Any output can be displayed in any of several units. A single tap on unit displayed in the expandable results list cycles through the available units for that output. All Input / Output units are stored b/w session and can be reset from the info window.
